OLYMPIA is a queer manifesto against bureaucratic dehumanization and a performative strategy to subvert state control through disclosure and poetic subversion. It combines personal pain, collective queer history, and political analysis into a resistant work of art.
Olympic high-performance sport functions similarly to the healthcare system following a strict, binary set of rules. Non-binary and trans people fall through many cracks and must demonstrate skill to receive the necessary medical care. OLYMPIA draws a direct line from the institutional violence of international sports to the bureaucratic violence of medical transition processes. The historical arc ranges from the Nazis' Olympic gender control in 1936 to the media smear campaign against supposedly “male-fighting women” such as Imane Khelif at the 2024 Olympics.
